Biographie

Rafael Ziegler est professeur agrégé à HEC Montréal et directeur de Institut international des coopératives Alphonse-et-Dorimène-Desjardins. Il est rédacteur adjoint du Journal of Human Development and Capabilities et du Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, et il a publié les livres Creating Economic Space for Social Innovation (Oxford 2019, avec Alex Nicholls) et Innovation, Ethics and Our Common Futures (Edward Elgar 2020). Lorsqu’il était écolier en Allemagne, l’accident nucléaire de Tchernobyl s’est produit. Un groupe de parents a réagi en créant une coopérative énergétique qui a pris en charge le réseau local et, ce faisant, a contribué de manière significative à la transition énergétique de la région. Ainsi inspiré dès son plus jeune âge, Rafael s’intéresse aux innovations et aux idées contribuant aux transformations en direction de la durabilité.

Rafael Ziegler is an associate professor at HEC Montréal and director of the Director of the Alphonse and Dorimène Desjardins International Institute for Cooperatives. He is associate editor of the Journal of Human Development and Capabilities and the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, and has published the books Creating Economic Space for Social Innovation (Oxford 2019, with Alex Nicholls) and Innovation, Ethics and Our Common Futures (Edward Elgar 2020). When he was a schoolchild in Germany, the Chernobyl nuclear accident happened. A group of parents responded creatively founding an energy cooperative that took over the local grid, and in doing so significantly contributed to the country’s energy transition. Inspired by such innovators from an early age, Rafael is interested in innovations and ideas contributing to transformations towards sustainability.
