This group was founded to create a space for bringing together the Quebec community of legal scholars and philosophers interested in reflecting on the legal treatment of animals and ways to improve it. By engaging passionate minds on this topic, the Observatory aims to promote research and teaching in animal law, as well as initiatives related to animal protection.
In bringing this community together, the term “animal law” is understood in its broadest sense. On one hand, it refers to both this specific field of law and how animals are treated across other legal domains. On the other hand, it includes not only the legal rules that apply to animals but also the underlying philosophical foundations. The Observatory seeks to enrich the field of animal law with a diversity of perspectives and disciplines.
Vegan appetizers and refreshments will be served.
