AESOP Chair scholarships

CALL FOR APPLICATIONSThe Aesop Chair held by Denise Celentano (2024-2028), on the ethical and political concerns raised by invisible forms of labor, in collaboration with the Centre de Recherche en Éthique, offers PhD and MA scholarships (renewable for 4 and 1 years respectively) for students whose research focuses on topics within the areas of the philosophy of work, social and political philosophy of time, problems of equality or other related topics in political, social and economic philosophy or ethics of AI. Students will work under the supervision of the Chair holder, with possibility of co-supervision by other members of the CRE. 

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

Doctoral scholarship

  • Be enrolled full-time in the PhD Philosophy program at the Université de Montréal, preferably in 2024-2025 (application for admission can be made after the results are announced, but payment of the bursary is conditional on the enrolment in the program);
  • Hold a MA degree in philosophy or equivalent;
  • Demonstrate a sufficient knowledge of French.

Master’s scholarship

  • Be enrolled in a MA program in philosophy at Université de Montréal, preferably in 2024-2025;
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in philosophy or equivalent.

APPLICATION

Doctoral scholarship

The application must include:
– A cover letter (max. 300 words);
– A curriculum vitae;
– All university transcripts;
– Doctoral research project (max. 800 words);
– Two letters of recommendation.

Master’s scholarship 

The application must include:
– A cover letter (max. 200 words);
– Curriculum vitae;
– All university transcripts;
– Master’s research project (max 300 words);
– One letter of recommendation.

Evaluation criteria 

– Excellence of academic record;
– Quality and originality of the research project.
