
Université Laval : Call for applications for a position as Assistant Professor in Applied Ethics
The Department of Philosophy at Université Laval is looking to fill a full-time faculty position of Assistant Professor in Applied Ethics.
The successful candidate will teach at all levels of undergraduate and graduate training offered by the Department of Philosophy in the relevant field. The candidate’s publications are expected to contribute to the development of research in applied ethics; in addition, he or she is expected to supervise master’s and doctoral work in the field. The successful candidate will be called upon to work in an interdisciplinary context, in collaboration with the Institut d’éthique appliquée (IDÉA) and in a variety of organizational settings. He or she may also be called upon to teach courses outside of the department. The incumbent will be expected to participate in the academic and administrative activities of the unit, especially in the context of the new professional master’s program in applied ethics.
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Doctoral degree in philosophy or an equivalent by the time of hiring;
- Substantial knowledge of current literature, methods and practices in applied ethics;
- Ability and interest in working with, and teaching, people from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds;
- Concrete and relevant experience in ethics across different workplaces or organizations, or demonstrated interest in acquiring such experience;
- Ability to undertake autonomous and original research in the field, with prospects for international dissemination;
- Teaching experience;
- Relevant scientific publications.
