GRIN Postdoctoral Fellowship 2018-2019

The GRIN located at Université de Montréal invites applications for its postdoctoral research fellowship (gross salary up to $36 000/year) for the period of the academic year 2018-2019. The mission of the GRIN is to contribute to research in ethics, action theory, philosophy of mind and epistemology. Subject to evaluation and available funding, the position is renewable for an additional year (2019-2020).
We also admit applications from other disciplines, provided their research is directly linked to questions in ethics, action theory, philosophy of mind and epistemology. GRIN is a partner of the Centre de Recherche en Éthique (CRE), an interuniversity Center. Applicants will be supervised by a member of the GRIN, but will also be part of the CRÉ.
Candidates must have sufficient knowledge of the French and English languages to be able to participate in the activities of the CRÉ and GRIN.
Application deadline : April 30th, 2018.
General rules :
- In order to apply, candidates must have obtained their Ph.D. after April 30, 2013.
- Canadian candidates must have submitted their thesis before September 1st, 2018.
- International applicants must have defended their thesis before September 1, 2018, so they can to meet the requirements relating to issuance of visa.
The GRIN will offer to its fellows :
- A gross salary of 36 000.00$ per year[1] ;
- An individual workstation ;
- Access to the services of a university (libraries, etc.);
- Assistance for material organisation of the stay.
In return, the fellows are expected to :
- Pursue the research project as submitted ;
- Participate in the GRIN’s activities (conferences, seminars, lectures) as well as CRÉ’s activities if applicable;
- Using those activities to present their ongoing research to their fellow researchers;
- Be present at the GRIN (and perhaps CRÉ) on a regular basis.
Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria :
- The nature and quality of the research project and its relevance to the mission of the GRIN ;
- The quality of previous research by the applicant and the potential benefits to the applicant from a stay in the Group
Candidates should send the following documents to the GRIN :
- their curriculum vitae ;
- an article written or published over the last three years ;
- a research project of up to 1500 words ;
- two letters of reference (to be sent directly to the GRIN before the deadline) ;
- A doctoral academic transcript (if possible) ;
- The properly filled out form.

[1] Please note that provincial and federal taxes, as well as other deductions, will be withheld from paycheques, for a total deduction of about 6 to 7% of the salary.
