Biography
Laura Silva is Assistant Professor at Université Laval, in the Department of Political Science. Her research lies at the intersection of moral psychology and feminist philosophy. Much of her work focuses on the moral and political roles of emotions and seeks to understand the importance of emotions in the struggle against social injustice. Her research is guided by two methodological constraints: not to stray from the real-world conditions in which emotions occur, and to be informed by the most relevant work in neuroscience and psychology.
Laura received her PhD in philosophy from University College London in 2019. She completed a European Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Antwerp and a second Leverhulme postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Geneva. During Fall 2022 she was a Banting postdoctoral fellow at the Centre de Research en Éthique.
