CIRAMM : Call for applications for two legal research assistant positions on MAiD
As part of their work for the Consortium interdisciplinaire de recherche sur l’AMM (CIRAMM), headed by Professor Marie-Ève Bouthillier, Professors Michelle Giroux, Louise Bernier and Bertrand Lavoie are looking for two legal research assistants.
At CIRAMM, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, undergraduates and research professionals. You will develop your research skills as you build a career as an attentive jurist committed to development in multidisciplinary work teams.
The successful candidate should be able to complete research in comparative law (doctrine, case law, legislation, public policy) and have an excellent ability to analyze, process and synthesize complex information. We are looking for legal students with a keen interest in end-of-life care and comparative law analysis on the topic of MAiD.
Prerequisites
- Undergraduate or graduate law student with a particular interest in legal and ethical issues relating to end of life. Knowledge of (or experience in) comparative law is an asset. Students from the Université de Sherbrooke and/or other Canadian universities are invited to apply.
- Excellent knowledge and mastery of Quebec, Canadian, American and international research tools in law, public policy, medicine, ethics and philosophy (doctrinal and jurisprudential databases, alternative resources).
- Excellent command of English (as many sources are in English, it is imperative that the student reads and understands English without difficulty). Knowledge of Spanish would also be an asset.
- Excellent capacity to express oneself in writing (ability to synthesize, structure and express ideas in writing), good command of IT tools for presenting results (preparation of visual presentations and scientific posters) and impeccable written French.
- Other qualities and aptitudes required: autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity, critical thinking, consistency, analytical skills, structure and rigour.
- Eligibility for the Université de Sherbrooke’s Work-Study Program is an asset.
