Genomics on the Hill
On October 24, 2018, Genome Canada hosted “Genomics on the Hill” on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. This event is meant to demonstrate research excellence by showcasing some of Genome Canada’s innovative genomics projects, to enhance the understanding of this complex research, and to raise the awareness of our politicians about this country’s genomics successes and the potential to improve Canadians’ lives and Canada’s economy.
Vardit Ravitsky, Director of the CRE’s Ethics and Health Branch, was invited to showcase her work as an example of the exciting work taking place in Canadian genomics, and to discuss genomics and its ethical, economic, environmental, legal and social implications (GE3LS). She presented the PEGASUS project, which explores the responsible implementation of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing into the Canadian healthcare system.
