Peter Balint (University of New South Wales, Canberra)
Le CRÉ est heureux de recevoir Peter Balint, qui viendra nous parler de son ouvrage le plus récent: Respecting Toleration, paru chez OUP. Sa présentation sera intitulée: « Neutrality and the accommodation of diversity ».
Jocelyn Maclure animera la séance.
Résumé:
The ideal of state or institutional neutrality has been widely disparaged by those concerned with the accommodation of diversity. In this paper, I defend neutrality as being significantly more accommodating than the oft-favoured respect or recognition of difference. One of the radical implications (and advantages) of my argument is that there is little need to distinguish between mere preferences and deeply held beliefs.
